Sharing
So I took absolutely no pictures but tonight's dinner was SO good. Grilled cheese sandwich made with sharp white cheddar and sauteed mushrooms. A side of cherry tomatoes roasted in balsamic vinegar. And sparkly wine to boot! Delicious.

Nothing wrong with that
The Brief Wondrous Life of Oscar Wao was a good read, but I think I hurt it with too high expectations and that's never a good thing. It's an utterly unique story about a Dominican nerd who has no luck with women. The narration is cleverly done. The story is good. I think I set my expectations on life-changing though based on all the super extra wonderful reviews out there. It wasn't, but it was a darn good read.

Dismay
I read Each Little Bird That Sings in a day. It's a kids book about a girl whose family runs a small town funeral home. It's sweet and full of funny names and cuteness and a dog named Dismay. (Best dog name ever!). It definitely touched me a bit. I give it a 6.5.

Lurvely
Want these! Might be time to practice some sewing skills. Trying to be less spendy and more makey.

Monster Town
The little boy next door left this on my door step. I was thrilled and am hoping to get more. I'm so lucky to have such cool kids next door.

Theme
Watched This Film is Not Yet Rated last night. It's a documentary that explains the secretive organization that rates moves (G through NC17). Good movie! I give this one a 7.
Seems particularly on target for me lately since I'm reading a banned book. Censorship sucks.

Adding to the mix
The garden is stuffed full of spring bulbs...but there's always room for more, right? I picked out the daffodils. The boy snapped up the tropical-looking flowers.

Mmmmmushrooms!
Mushroom Bruschetta
Ingredients:
- Hen of the Woods Mushrooms (they look funny but oh so good!)
- Baguette
- Spreadable cheese (I used Alouette garlicky variety)
- Olive oil
- Rosemary
1. Slice up baguette into thin slices.
2. Dip one side into a bowl of olive oil.
3. Smear cheese on olive oil side.
4. Top with mushrooms & rosemary.
5. Broil until melty and toasty.
6. Eat quick before they disappear.
The hen of the woods mushrooms were so good and earthy. My favorite kind to use on bruschetta - although its hard to go wrong with fresh mushrooms of any sort. Yum!
(Also admitting this to Tastespotting. First admission ever and an item on my 101 list.)
Colorful
Snagged a lovely doormat at Oakland Nursery. So much more appropriate to our house than a astefully understated mat.
Done!
Done! Finally repainted my hoosier cabinet. It came in a cream color with upgly orange flower decals on each cupboard door. I prefer it in pale peach with no decals!

Can't stop
Love it - every time I hear it on the radio even though they are playing it all the time.

FYI - I made these pretzel cookies twice over the last month. They are seriously good.

Seems right
Zoe Ingram's work just feels right to me. Love the colors of her florals. I'd like one of each please.

Been gone
Back now. Decided I missed sharing things with the great beyond. I stopped posting for reasons that seem insignificant to me now.
