I'm not spoiling anything. Catfish is a good documentary, but it is definitely not a thriller. The marketing folks made this movie look like something it isn't. It seems very unfair to the moviemakers and the people who go to see it. While I liked the film, I couldn't help being disappointed because I went in for an entirely different experience. Not gonna do a rating on this one. It's a decent documentary and a terrible thriller. How's that?
I went on some site that gave it away because I really had no interest in seeing it, but was mildly curious what the big secret was all about (OMG! He was dead the entire time!!!!). When I found out I was glad I did not waste my time. Maybe if it was marketed differently without the "shocking ending" then I might have been interested in it's social commentary.
