The Cement Garden is such a disturbing, skin-crawly kind of story. I really like Ian McEwan, but I did not know what I was getting into with this one. Disturbing. Unwashed, uncared for children, dead parents, seriously taboo relationships - all of that. I can appreciate writing even when the story is so messed up. 5/10. (But I can't imagine ever ever reccomending this book to anyone).
I read this yeeeeeears ago and was quite disturbed, yet I still want to see the movie.
