Fever 1793 is all about the yellow fever epidemic in Philadelphia - something I hadn't known about at all. It's a YA novel and told from the point of view of a teenage girl whose family runs a coffee shop.
I liked that the book felt no need to have some grand romantic story - there's a small one but it never takes the focus. However, the characters never felt very 3-dimensional (except for maybe the grandfather). There just wasn't much to most of them so I never felt very concerned over who would succumb to the fever and who would survive.
I give it a 3 out of 10.
